Wedding Week Calm Mask
A deliberately boring mask for the week before a wedding: plain yogurt cools, honey keeps it comfortable, and colloidal oatmeal thickens it into something that will stay on your face.

You will need
- 1 tbsp plain yogurt
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 tsp colloidal oatmeal
The ritual
- Stir the yogurt, honey and oatmeal together until there are no dry patches.
- Leave it two minutes so the oatmeal swells and the mixture thickens.
- Spread an even layer over clean skin, avoiding the eye area.
- Rest ten minutes somewhere you can properly sit down.
- Rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry with a clean towel.
Why these ingredients
- 1 tbsp plain yogurt
- Cool plain yogurt is comfortable on skin and gives the mask its body, without anything sharp or unpredictable in it.
- 1 tsp honey
- Honey keeps the mask from drying tight and leaves skin feeling soft rather than stripped when you rinse it off.
- 1 tsp colloidal oatmeal
- Finely ground oats thicken the mixture and give it a silky feel, so it sits still for ten minutes.
Easy swaps
- 1 tbsp plain yogurt → kefir, or a plant yogurt with no added sugar.
- 1 tsp honey → vegetable glycerine, for the same softness without bee products.
- 1 tsp colloidal oatmeal → rice flour, blended very fine so it is not gritty.
Keep it clean
Mix with freshly washed hands and clean, dry bowls and spoons. If a recipe is stored, use a jar or bottle washed in hot soapy water and dried completely, and never dip wet fingers into the batch.
Storage & when to let go
Single use, so mix it fresh each time. Yogurt and honey will not keep once combined, and there is little sense storing a two-minute mixture.
What to expect — honestly
Skin looks calm and feels soft for the evening, which is exactly the ambition here. It will not change your skin before Saturday. Its real value is that it does nothing dramatic in a week when dramatic is the last thing you want.
Common questions
How often in the run-up?
Twice a week at most, and nothing new alongside it. A calm routine matters far more in that fortnight than any single mask does.
Greek or natural yogurt?
Natural is easier to spread and Greek drips less. Either works, as long as it is plain with no sugar or fruit in it.
