Tent Morning Freshen Mist
A between-showers body mist: witch hazel takes off the sticky feeling, rosewater makes it smell like something other than a tent, and glycerine keeps skin from drying tight.

You will need
- 3 tbsp witch hazel
- 3 tbsp rosewater
- 1 tsp vegetable glycerine
The ritual
- Combine the witch hazel, rosewater and glycerine in a spray bottle.
- Shake until the glycerine has dissolved and nothing streaks the sides.
- Mist over arms, chest, the back of the neck and behind the knees.
- Wipe down with a cloth or flannel while the skin is still damp.
- Let the rest air dry before you put clothes back on.
Why these ingredients
- 3 tbsp witch hazel
- It evaporates quickly and takes the clammy feeling with it, which is most of what a morning in a tent needs.
- 3 tbsp rosewater
- Rosewater is half the volume and all of the scent, and it softens what witch hazel alone would feel like.
- 1 tsp vegetable glycerine
- A teaspoon stops the witch hazel drying skin tight over several days of doing this instead of showering.
Easy swaps
- 3 tbsp witch hazel → cooled green tea, gentler on skin though it does less about stickiness.
- 3 tbsp rosewater → orange blossom water or cooled chamomile tea.
- 1 tsp vegetable glycerine → aloe vera juice, strained well so the nozzle stays clear.
Keep it clean
Mix with freshly washed hands and clean, dry bowls and spoons. If a recipe is stored, use a jar or bottle washed in hot soapy water and dried completely, and never dip wet fingers into the batch.
Storage & when to let go
Keeps a month in a capped bottle. Heat in a tent will not spoil it, but the scent fades faster, so make it the week you travel.
What to expect — honestly
Skin feels less sticky and smells better for a few hours, which on day three is worth a great deal. It is a stopgap between showers. It does not clean skin, and by evening you will be back where you started.
Common questions
Is this a shower substitute?
It is a stopgap. It takes off the stickiness and some of the smell for a few hours, and nothing about it actually cleans.
Can I use it on my face?
Yes, sparingly and with your eyes shut. Witch hazel at this strength can feel drying on a face, so go lighter than on arms.
