Sesame Vanilla Body Oil
Sesame oil brings weight and warmth, jojoba keeps the blend from feeling heavy, and a little vanilla extract gives the whole thing a soft bakery scent without any essential oil.

You will need
- 3 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp jojoba oil
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
The ritual
- Pour both oils into a small clean bottle with a good lid.
- Add the vanilla extract and cap the bottle firmly.
- Shake for twenty seconds, until the mixture looks even and slightly cloudy.
- Warm a little in your palms and smooth onto skin still damp from the bath.
- Blot any excess with a towel before you dress.
Why these ingredients
- 3 tbsp sesame oil
- Sesame is a substantial, slightly nutty oil that stays where you put it, which is what you want straight after a bath.
- 1 tbsp jojoba oil
- Jojoba is technically a liquid wax and sinks in fast, cutting the greasy feel of the sesame without thinning the blend.
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Real vanilla extract scents the oil gently, and is far kinder over a large area than an essential oil would be.
Easy swaps
- 3 tbsp sesame oil → sunflower or rice bran oil if sesame is off limits.
- 1 tbsp jojoba oil → grapeseed oil, which is lighter still and cheaper.
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract → a split vanilla pod steeped in the oil for a week.
Keep it clean
Mix with freshly washed hands and clean, dry bowls and spoons. If a recipe is stored, use a jar or bottle washed in hot soapy water and dried completely, and never dip wet fingers into the batch.
Storage & when to let go
Keeps about three months in a capped bottle away from light and heat. Sesame oil turns rancid eventually, so give it a sniff before each use.
What to expect — honestly
Skin feels softer and looks less ashy for the rest of the day. This is a surface film holding water in, so it is comfort and shine rather than a change in the skin itself. Wear it under clothes you do not mind marking.
Common questions
Will it smell strongly of sesame?
Unroasted sesame oil is mild and nutty rather than loud. Roasted sesame oil smells like dinner, so make sure you buy the plain cold-pressed kind.
Can I use it on my face?
Sesame oil sits heavily on facial skin and suits some people badly. If you want to try, use a single drop and give it a week before deciding.
