Coconut Fresh Deodorant Cream
A soft cream deodorant without baking soda's sting — coconut oil fights odor-causing bacteria naturally, arrowroot keeps you dry, shea keeps skin calm.

You will need
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 tbsp arrowroot powder (or cornstarch)
- 1 tbsp shea butter
- 4 drops lavender or tea tree oil
The ritual
- Melt coconut oil and shea together gently.
- Stir in arrowroot until silky, then the essential oil.
- Pour into a small jar and let it set at room temperature.
- Use a pea-size amount per underarm, massaged in until invisible.
Why these ingredients
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- A richly softening oil that melts on skin contact.
- 2 tbsp arrowroot powder (or cornstarch)
- A soft, silky powder that absorbs surface oil.
- 1 tbsp shea butter
- A thick plant butter that leaves a protective, cushiony softness.
- 4 drops lavender or tea tree oil
- A relaxing traditional scent for bath and evening rituals.
Easy swaps
- 2 tbsp coconut oil → Shea butter or sunflower oil; note coconut oil can feel heavy on oily facial skin.
- 2 tbsp arrowroot powder (or cornstarch) → Arrowroot powder.
- 1 tbsp shea butter → Mango butter or cocoa butter.
- 4 drops lavender or tea tree oil → Chamomile or skip the fragrance entirely.
Keep it clean
Mix with freshly washed hands and clean, dry bowls and spoons. If a recipe is stored, use a jar or bottle washed in hot soapy water and dried completely, and never dip wet fingers into the batch.
Storage & when to let go
Room temp for 2 months. In hot weather it softens to a lotion — stir once and it works the same.
Who should skip this one
- People who are pregnant or nursing, young children, and anyone with fragrance allergies or very reactive skin (or simply leave the essential oil out).
What to expect — honestly
Expect smoother-feeling, well-moisturised skin — with regular use, rough patches usually feel softer over a few weeks. Results vary and deeper skin changes (like pigmentation) need professional care.
Common questions
Does it stain clothes?
Use only a pea-size amount and let it absorb one minute — then no marks, even on black.
Why no baking soda like other DIY deodorants?
Baking soda's high pH causes the famous red-itchy underarm rash. Arrowroot does the drying job without the burn.
