Aloe Cucumber Sleeping Mask
A light overnight layer where aloe vera gel holds water against the skin, glycerin draws more in, and a couple of drops of jojoba oil stop it all evaporating by morning.

You will need
- 2 tbsp aloe vera gel
- 1 tbsp cucumber juice, strained
- 1/2 tsp vegetable glycerin
- 2 drops jojoba oil
The ritual
- Strain the cucumber juice through muslin so no pulp gets into the gel.
- Whisk the aloe vera gel, cucumber juice and glycerin until smooth and streak free.
- Stir in the jojoba oil drop by drop so it disperses evenly.
- Pat a thin layer over clean skin as your last night step, avoiding the eye area.
- Rinse or wipe it off in the morning before your usual routine.
Why these ingredients
- 2 tbsp aloe vera gel
- The watery base that carries everything else and leaves a light film, so moisture sits on the skin overnight instead of flashing off.
- 1 tbsp cucumber juice, strained
- Mostly water with a little sugar and mineral content, it thins the gel and gives the mask its cool, fresh feel.
- 1/2 tsp vegetable glycerin
- A humectant that pulls water from the air and from deeper skin up into the surface layers, so skin looks fuller by morning.
- 2 drops jojoba oil
- A light wax ester that sits on top and slows evaporation, which is what stops a water based gel drying you out.
Easy swaps
- 2 tbsp aloe vera gel → a plain hyaluronic acid gel, or any fragrance free aloe gel from the chemist.
- 1 tbsp cucumber juice, strained → chilled green tea or plain rosewater for the same watery base.
- 1/2 tsp vegetable glycerin → honey, which is stickier to work with but behaves the same way.
- 2 drops jojoba oil → squalane or a light grapeseed oil, both of which sink in quickly.
Keep it clean
Mix with freshly washed hands and clean, dry bowls and spoons. If a recipe is stored, use a jar or bottle washed in hot soapy water and dried completely, and never dip wet fingers into the batch.
Storage & when to let go
Keeps three days in a small jar in the fridge. Mix fresh after that, since cucumber juice and water have nothing preserving them.
What to expect — honestly
You should wake with skin that feels cushioned and looks less crepey across the cheeks, and makeup tends to sit better the next morning. That is hydration doing its job, and it fades within a day of stopping. This is comfort and plumpness, not a change in the skin itself.
Common questions
Can I use aloe straight from the plant?
Yes, though fresh leaf gel is thinner and spoils within a day or two. Let the cut leaf drain first so the bitter yellow sap runs out.
Does this replace my night cream?
On oily or normal skin in humid weather, usually yes. In dry air or in winter, use it over your usual cream rather than instead of it.
