You will need

The ritual

  1. Melt beeswax and oil together over a warm water bath.
  2. Take off the heat, wait 30 seconds, then stir in lavender and vanilla.
  3. Pour into a small tin or old lip-balm pot.
  4. Set 1 hour. Glide over pulse points — wrists, behind ears, base of throat.
Glow tip ✦ Scents bloom on warm skin — apply after your shower and the lavender lasts hours longer.

Why these ingredients

1 tbsp beeswax pellets
Thickens balms and leaves a protective finish.
2 tbsp jojoba or almond oil
A light plant oil that softens and smooths the skin's surface.
12 drops lavender essential oil
A relaxing traditional scent for bath and evening rituals.
4 drops vanilla extract or 1 small piece vanilla bean, infused
Purely for its warm, comforting scent.

Easy swaps

Keep it clean

Mix with freshly washed hands and clean, dry bowls and spoons. If a recipe is stored, use a jar or bottle washed in hot soapy water and dried completely, and never dip wet fingers into the batch.

Storage & when to let go

Solid and stable for 6 months in a closed tin. Keep out of direct sun so it doesn't sweat.

Allergy check ✦ Essential oils on skin always deserve a patch test — inner arm, 24 hours. Skip lavender oil during the first trimester of pregnancy — ask your doctor first.
Take care ✦ Contains essential oil(s). Essential oils are concentrated and a common cause of skin reactions — always keep to the stated (diluted) amount, never apply them neat, and skip them entirely if you're pregnant, nursing, or have sensitive skin, unless your doctor agrees.
Patch-test first ✦ Apply a little of the finished mix to your inner arm and wait 24 hours. No reaction is a good sign, though no patch test can rule out every reaction. Never use a recipe on broken or irritated skin, keep everything out of your eyes, and stop at once if anything stings or burns.

Who should skip this one

What to expect — honestly

Expect smoother-feeling, well-moisturised skin — with regular use, rough patches usually feel softer over a few weeks. Results vary and deeper skin changes (like pigmentation) need professional care.

Common questions

Can I change the scent?

Yes — swap lavender for rose, jasmine or peppermint (8–12 drops total). Keep the wax-to-oil ratio the same.

Why does it smell soft compared to spray perfume?

No alcohol means a close, skin-level scent — people smell it when they're near you, which is exactly the charm.
