Rose Shower Steamers — homemade bath ritual ingredients styled for the recipe

You will need

The ritual

  1. Whisk baking soda, citric acid and cornstarch in a dry bowl.
  2. Add the essential oil, then spritz water ONE spray at a time, mixing fast, until it just holds together like damp sand.
  3. Press firmly into silicone molds or a muffin tin.
  4. Dry overnight, unmold, and store airtight. Drop one on the shower floor — away from the direct stream — and breathe.
Glow tip ✦ Too much water makes them fizz in the bowl — add it literally one spray at a time.

Why these ingredients

1/2 cup baking soda
Provides the fizz in shower steamers (not for direct skin scrubbing).
1/4 cup citric acid
The other half of the fizz reaction in steamers.
2 tbsp cornstarch
A soft, silky powder that absorbs surface oil.
10 drops rose or lavender essential oil + a spray of water
A relaxing traditional scent for bath and evening rituals.

Easy swaps

Keep it clean

Mix with freshly washed hands and clean, dry bowls and spoons. If a recipe is stored, use a jar or bottle washed in hot soapy water and dried completely, and never dip wet fingers into the batch.

Storage & when to let go

Airtight jar, away from humidity — they keep 2–3 months. Damp air is their enemy.

Allergy check ✦ These are for the shower FLOOR, not the bath and never the skin — citric acid concentration is too strong for soaking. Keep essential oils away from eyes; choose lavender over rose if you're scent-sensitive.
Take care ✦ Contains essential oil(s). Essential oils are concentrated and a common cause of skin reactions — always keep to the stated (diluted) amount, never apply them neat, and skip them entirely if you're pregnant, nursing, or have sensitive skin, unless your doctor agrees.
Patch-test first ✦ Apply a little of the finished mix to your inner arm and wait 24 hours. No reaction is a good sign, though no patch test can rule out every reaction. Never use a recipe on broken or irritated skin, keep everything out of your eyes, and stop at once if anything stings or burns.

Who should skip this one

What to expect — honestly

Expect twenty deeply pleasant minutes and skin that feels soft when you towel off. The biggest benefit might be to your mood — and that counts.

Common questions

Can I use them as bath bombs?

No — the essential oil level is made for steam, not skin contact. For baths, use our Milk & Lavender Moon Bath instead.

The scent fades fast — normal?

Place the steamer where water splashes it lightly but doesn't drown it — it should fizz slowly for the whole shower.
