Banana Oat Hand Mask
A creamy mask for the skin that washes dishes, types all day and still gets forgotten — banana and honey drench, oats calm, olive oil seals.

You will need
- 1/2 ripe banana, mashed
- 1 tbsp fine ground oats
- 1 tsp honey
- 1 tsp olive oil
The ritual
- Mash the banana completely smooth, then stir in oats, honey and oil.
- Coat the backs and palms of clean hands generously.
- Rest hands palm-up on a towel for 10 minutes — scroll your phone guilt-free.
- Rinse lukewarm, pat, and finish with your hand cream while skin is still damp.
Why these ingredients
- 1/2 ripe banana, mashed
- Soft, starchy fruit that makes a creamy, cushioning mask.
- 1 tbsp fine ground oats
- Finely ground oats give a very gentle polish and leave a softening, milky feel.
- 1 tsp honey
- A natural humectant — it attracts and holds moisture, so skin feels soft and supple.
- 1 tsp olive oil
- A pantry oil rich in fatty acids that leaves a soft, conditioned feel.
Easy swaps
- 1/2 ripe banana, mashed → Mashed avocado.
- 1 tbsp fine ground oats → Rice flour, ground even finer.
- 1 tsp honey → Maple syrup gives a similar texture (without honey's traditional reputation).
- 1 tsp olive oil → Sunflower or sweet almond oil.
Keep it clean
Mix with freshly washed hands and clean, dry bowls and spoons. If a recipe is stored, use a jar or bottle washed in hot soapy water and dried completely, and never dip wet fingers into the batch.
Storage & when to let go
Fresh banana browns fast — single use only, no storing.
Who should skip this one
- Anyone with an allergy to the fruit involved; latex-allergic readers should be careful with avocado, banana and kiwi (known cross-reactions).
What to expect — honestly
With repeat use, expect noticeably softer-feeling hands and heels over days to weeks. Deep cracks, persistent problems or painful skin deserve a professional look.
Common questions
Can it fade dark knuckles?
It softens and smooths — but it won't change deeper pigmentation, and we won't pretend otherwise. For pigment concerns, see a dermatologist.
Feet too?
Absolutely — double the recipe and give your heels the same 10 minutes.
